Farnham & Nelson – One example of distinctive coachwork from the classic era

This mighty Locomobile was photographed by member, Robert Evans, in 1958 at a "Duster's Meet" on the grounds of the Larz Anderson Estate in Brookline, MA. This model 48 was owned at the time by James Demone of Southboro, MA, and wears a very distinctive body by Farnham & Nelson. The iconic model 48 was introduced by Locomobile in 1911. Locomobile didn't build its own bodies - instead, one could buy the chassis and have a custom body created by the coachworks of your choice. Alternatively, you could have a standard body, from the catalog, built at the direction of Locomobile by one of two local firms: Bridgeport Body Company or Blue Ribbon Body Company. Both of these enterprises were located in Bridgeport, CT, along with [...]

The Arizona Region recognizes the life and contributions of Clive Cussler

It is with deep sadness that I inform our Region members of the passing of my close friend, Clive Cussler.  He passed away at his home in Paradise Valley on Monday, February 24th.  Clive was 88 years old.   Funeral arrangements are pending  and will be private.  His life passion was his writing, family, and Old Cars, including many of our beloved CCCA recognized classics.  Naturally, his world famous best selling books included old cars as an integral part of the plot, especially the adventures of his fictional character, Dirk Pitt. Clive was always generous in hosting CCCA events, both for the Arizona and Colorado Regions. Along with his wife Janet (who he successfully converted into a car person), the couple hosted two recent events at The [...]

Phx Art Museum – Legends of Speed Tour

The Arizona Region of the Classic Car Club joined with the Rolls-Royce Owners Club for a special tour of the Phoenix Art Museum's exhibition: Legends of Speed. The group of about 30 was treated to a guided tour of historically significant race cars by Lyn St James - former race driver and 1992 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year. Following the tour, the group headed north to lunch at Ladera Taverna y Cocinaon Central Avenue. A wonderful Saturday morning was had by all. Special thanks goes to Harry Clark, Arizona Region CCCA member, for organizing the event.

2020 Arizona Auction Week Breakfast

The Arizona Region of the Classic Car Club of America had a wonderful turnout for our annual Arizona Auction Week Breakfast. On a bright and sunny day over 70 CCCA members and guests, from regions across the country, join together for breakfast at the McCormick Ranch Country Club. Breakfast was followed by a tour of the Bonhams Auction preview just up the road. Thanks to all who attended and a special thanks to Bonhams for providing everyone free access to the fantastic car on offer at their Scottsdale sale. Here's few Classics seen during auction week.

2019 Holiday Party

Over thirty members join together on Sunday, December 8th to celebrate the holidays and reconnect with friends. Members each Brough a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Toys for Tots. Unfortunately, the wet weather did not allow for driving our Classics. Special thanks to Dee and Don Pellegrini, Ed and Karen Winkler, as well as Dale and Marilyn Lillard for all their help in transforming the Toy Barn at Lone Mountain into a festive, holiday gathering.

2019 Classic Car Poker Run

A sunny Sunday morning greeted the members of the Arizona Region Classic Car Club of America as we gathered in the heart of Scottsdale for our annual poker run. Joining us were a couple representing the local Cadillac Club. Thank you to Ken, Gary, and all those who helped put on this fun event. Ken started us off in two groups with the first playing card and directions to the next stop. At each additional stop another card was selected by  each participant - making a five card poker hand. After many twists and turns, five stops, and some lost cars, we all made it to lunch. El Charro's in Paradise Valley served as a beautiful, and delicious, rendezvous for the entire group. The poker hands [...]
